Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Sick is given to us by Christ to strengthen us in Body and Soul when we experience the effects of serious illness. Generally speaking, those who are advanced in age, (75 and above), those facing surgery, those with terminal illnesses, or those facing life-threatening situations may request the Sacrament of the Anointing. One can be anointed multiple times.

Families of those who are dying or who are in danger of death should notify the priest immediately so arrangements can be made for the Sacrament. In these times, the Sacrament of the Sick is of special importance to bring peace and comfort to those ready to make their final journey home to the Lord.

Call the rectory at 314-487-7970 any time in an emergency situation.

Hospital Visitation

Because hospitals are no longer able to inform the rectory when parishioners are admitted, please call to let us know if you or a family member will be entering the hospital, and would like a priest to visit. Or, you may speak to the hospital's Pastoral Care Office, and arrangements can be made for a priest to provide the Anointing of the Sick and Holy Communion sacraments.

Funeral Arrangements

Catholics may be buried by any parish they choose. Assumption Parish is happy to assist its parishioners and their families when a death occurs. Arrangements for the funeral Mass can be made with a priest. Members of the Funeral Luncheon Committee are willing to provide luncheons after funeral services held for Assumption parishioners.

Please call the Parish Office at 314-487-7970 for assistance with funeral or memorial arrangements.
