With Baptism and Eucharist, Confirmation completes the Sacraments of Initiation. In Confirmation, we are anointed as adult members of the Church, empowered by the Holy Spirit to profess, defend and explain the faith.
Children: Children of Assumption are prepared for Confirmation in seventh grade. The date for this annual celebration is determined by assignment from the Archbishop’s Office.
Adults: Those not initiated at the Easter Vigil may be confirmed by contacting the Coordinator of Adult Faith Formation. In the Archdiocese of St. Louis, those who have been baptized and received the Eucharist, but have not been confirmed, are invited to join the whole local Church in a special Confirmation Mass on Pentecost Sunday at the Cathedral-Basilica each year. Shortly after Easter, a notice will appear in the weekly bulletin announcing this Mass and inviting adult Catholics to contact Mrs. Laura Benson to make arrangements for Confirmation on Pentecost.
