Introduction Letter from Director Shelley Michael:

Hello everyone! I am Mrs. Michael - Director of Childcare Services for Assumption Parish. I oversee AELC and ASAP. I feel truly blessed working in a setting where my creativity and resourcefulness benefits children and their families.

After much research, the parish felt it was necessary to offer Catholic Education to children ages two to eighth grade. In February of 2001, Monsignor Dempsey offered me a position to start up a preschool program for the parish. I was so happy to join such a great mission and believe it was a calling from God. We worked diligently to get the preschool rolling. On our first day of school, April 29, 2001 - we were set with four children. (Boy was I nervous!) Over the years, we have made many enhancements and even expanded to provide care to over 80 children this current school year. To date, we have serviced over 488 children and 251 have graduated from our program. I hope that their formative years here at AELC will take them a long way in their educational journey. Recently, we obtained our Accreditation from the state of Missouri. It has been a long journey and we are so proud of our hard work. Our prayers were truly answered.

We offer many program that are suitable for every families need. We have full-day and half-day options available from two to five days per week. Additionally, we offer Kids Day Out and Summer Camp programs over the summer months.

Our classrooms are grouped into separate ages (2-3's, 3-4's and Pre-Kindergarten); supporting the belief of creating and sustaining a community classroom environment. We offer a toddler and preschool classrooms, providing care to children ages two to six years. Our project construct philosophy allows us to provide an atmosphere for the children to discover through play using a hands-on curriculum. Our teachers utilize age-appropriate benchmarks to guide the learning environment to cover all early childhood developmental goals.
