Mrs. Coughlin and Ms. Riek (Toddlers):
Wow! Its hard to believe a month has passed. All the children are doing great and adjusting well. We are working on our self-reliance skills; washing their hands, putting their toys away, walking up and down the steps and putting their trash in the trashcan. These simple skills will develop hand-eye coordination, organization, and how to problem solve, while being successful and building self-esteem. While this process sometimes can be frustrating for the child, Ms. Riek and I encourage them to try first, then if they need help, use their words and ask for help. By doing this, it helps the child use their words and lessens the frustration. Children learn to be responsible in small steps. Please help reinforce these skills and practices at home to further your childs success.
Mrs. White and Ms. Toppins (Three-Four Year-Olds):
The month of September went by quickly. The children have transitioned very well and are used to the routine. They have also established new friendships. We began the month by talking about our school then proceeded into celebrating ourselves, friends, and families. The children also worked very hard on drawing circles and cutting with scissors. During the month of October, the class will discuss fire safety, community helpers, fall, and Halloween. We will also begin to talk about the loft and learn our rules to keep us safe while reading in the loft.
Mrs. Elam & Mrs. Walters (Pre-Kindergarten):
It is hard to believe that the first month of school has already past! The children have adjusted very well to their friends and classroom. We are all enjoying our weekly library visits at the Parish School and being able to choose and check out our own books! This month we will be meeting our first grade buddies in Mrs. Feichtinger’s class at the Parish school and we will also begin our Handwriting Without Tears program. Please see separate handouts for further details. |
