Troop Meetings

We have Troop meetings scheduled for Wednesday nights from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm except for the Wednesday that follows the first Tuesday of the Month.  Scouts should not arrive unsupervised before 7:15 and should be picked-up by 9:00.

Scouts are expected at all Troop meetings to participate in the preparation for the upcoming outings.  Scouts should be in uniform as outlined in the Troop Uniform Policy.  Parents are encouraged and welcome to attend meetings whenever possible and lend their expertise.

Outdoor Activities

Our Troop Leadership Meets in August each year for the purpose of outlining the outdoor adventures we will participate.  The Troop Committee receives the activity list and plans the details and adult leadership for each event.  An adult chairs or co-chairs each event, any event not chaired by an adult is cancelled.  Parents are encouraged to get involved and chair an event so the Scouts of Troop 169 can enjoy as much program as possible.

Scouts are expected to arrive for each event in "Class A" uniform, not arrive at the event but to travel to and from the event in uniform. (see troop uniform policy)

Any Scout not wearing his uniform will be asked to retrieve the uniform (pack or home) and put it on before being allowed to leave the parking lot.  We meet in the Church parking lot (or Parish Center Lot) at a specific time and leave and leave as a group.  Any Scout or Adult who needs to leave before or after the Troop meeting time must notify the Scoutmaster and/or event leader in advance.

Council youth protection policy requires each Troop to provide for no less than two adults and two Scouts in attendance at any Troop outing.  Troop leaders must coordinate those leaving early so everyone arrives at camp in accordance with the Council and National youth protection policies.

Scouts should be prepared to transport all personal gear to and from camp.  Upon arrival at camp, Scouts are to leave all personal gear in a central location until all Patrol equipment is at camp and setup.  Then personal gear can be retrieved and placed in order.  The reverse if the arrival process will be used to leave camp.  All personal gear will be packed and placed in a central location while Troop and Patrol gear is packed.  After all Troop and Patrol gear is packed, personal gear may be retrieved and packed in cars.

Scouts are expected to stay at camp until ALL gear, (personal, Patrol, and Troop) is loaded and all Scouts have a ride.  If a Scout must leave early, please talk with the Scoutmaster and/or Event Leader in advance.
