It is the time of year when weather changes quickly.  Conditions cause us to cancel classes as the situation warrants.  PSR families will be notified through the School Reach System.  Additional notices will be posted on KMOX News Talk 1120 AM radio, News Channel 5 KSDK, Channel 4 KMOV and Fox 2 KTVI.

 God’s Own Making

Beginning January 31st, students in Grades 4-6 will begin the God’s Own Making Class Sessions.  The focus of the God’s Own Making curriculum is to explore the Church’s teaching in regard to human sexuality with emphasis on the moral and spiritual development as it pertains to God’s gift of life.  The themes of the sessions are as follows:

Respect for Life, Relationships, Life Giving, Love Giving God’s Call to Holiness, Wonders of Life

Physiological information is not presented in the classroom rather the emphasis is on the spiritual and moral development of children.  If you would more information please contact Mrs. Koppy at koppyd@assumptionstl.org.

Grade Eight High School Applications

The High School application forms have arrived.  PSR students applying for admission to our area Catholic High schools should contact Mrs. Donna Koppy in order to obtain an application form.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

We offer the CLW ministry for the children of our parish, ages 3 through 9, at the Sunday 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. liturgies.  The CLW Adult leaders and student helpers process out of church with the children to the lower church where the younger members of the parish can listen to the Sunday scripture reading in words they can understand.  We are currently seeking additional adult and student volunteers to assist in this ministry.  If you would like to find out more about the CLW, please contact Mrs. Donna Koppy by phone (314) 487-6520 ext. 2219 or email at koppyd@assumptionstl.org.

Let us GiveThanks

As we gather here this evening, let us recognize the
goodness of God.  At this time of year, we call to mind our many blessings and give “thanks”.
For the beauty of autumn colors.
For the times of quiet reflection.
For the times when we catch the breath of God and the glance of God’s dear grace.
For changes – in nature, ourselves, and others.
For the unique beauty of each autumn leaf and the unique beauty of each individual with whom we work.
 We thank you, Lord.
God of autumn, the trees are saying goodbye to their green, letting go of what has been.  We, too, have our moments of surrender, with all their insecurity and risk.  Help us to let go when we need to do so.
God of harvest, many gifts of growth lie within the season of our surrender.  We must wait for harvest in faith and hope.  Grant us patience when we do not see the blessings.

God of life, you believe in us, you enrich us, you entrust us with a free will.  For this and all your gifts, we are grateful.  Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of the Assumption
Remember, O most gracious and most merciful Mother Mary,
you were given to us to be our provider and our support.
Full of confidence in your goodness, we call you to our aid; assist us.
We confide to you our sorrows; comfort us.
We commend to you our needs; supply them.
We entrust to you our labors; bless them.
O, who can obtain all, Our Blessed Mother Mary, help us.
Protect the Church, our country, our school, and all who hope in you.
Open to us your heart.  And because you are our patroness, O, Our lady of the Assumption,
Favorably receive our prayers and deign to hear them always,  Amen.
                Our Lady of the Assumption
