The PSR (Parish School of Religion) program offers religious education for children in kindergarten through 7th grade who typically attend public schools and do not have the benefit of religion classes during their school day.
In 2020, the PSR program will be shifting to a family-based model, which will be conducted online for the first quarter, to aid parents in fulfilling their role as the primary educators in the faith of their children. Our catechists will act as family mentors, offering encouragement and guidance to parents, as well as providing simple short lessons that the whole family can complete together.
Each family will receive workbooks with discussion questions, children's activities, prayers, and stories to use throughout the month at home. These simple practices will aid each family in growing closer to Jesus in their home, the "domestic church".
During each month of the school year, families will attend one lesson night (offered virtually for the first quarter) and then take time each week to complete other activities. Our catechist mentors will post assignments for families to complete each month. Also, families can attend Mass, prayer and worship and Reconciliation once per month.
PSR meets on Monday evenings, from 6:15 to 7:30 PM.
In Spring 2021, we have two simultaneous schedules: for those who have opted for in-person learning, and for those who have opted for virtual learning. Teachers are dedicated to in-person classes or to virtual classes, so they can maintain consistency in their groups.
